To view Japanese characters on this site, your browser needs to have Japanese language support. If you're using Netscape, then you need a nifty program called NJWin. You can pick up
a copy free at Shareware.com. Type "njwin" in the search box, and then select one of the locations for downloading. It will give you a
zipped file, which you can then open with WinZip and install on your computer.
If you have Internet Explorer, go to "View" in the menu bar, then select "encoding." The options for Japanese viewing should be there.
Note: I developed this page on a PC, and these instructions are probably only valid for IBM-compatible machines. If you are using a Macintosh, go
here to remedy the situation.
Once you have NJWin or have found the encoding properties in Internet Explorer, you'll have three different ways to view Japanese: Auto-Detect, EUC-JIS and Shift-JIS. I have no idea
what any of these things mean, or even which one is best to use, so just try them all until one works.
Here's the acid test: If the characters on the right look the same as those in the picture on the left, you're good to go.
